What it’s like to be adopted by a Birmese family

In northern Myanmar I decided to spent two days in Pyin Oo Lwin, the former British hillstation. During the unbearably hot summers they used to move the colonial administration to cooler Pyin Oo Lwin.

Nowadays it’s mostly known for its botanical gardens, the Kandawgyi national gardens. Also, Pyin Oo Lwin is a beloved holiday destination for many fortunate Birmese families.

On a stroll in the gardens I met one of these families, who generously invited me to their family picknick. We played games, shared food and of course had many pictures taken.

Taking pictures in parks seems a favourite pass time everywhere in Myanmar. 🙂
