Since my beloved friend and travel compagnion Iris left back home, I experience more and more the seemingly unlimited generosity and hospitality of people in Myanmar.

Everywhere I go, people are looking after me, caring, feeding and spoiling me with friendliness and attention.

It mostly starts with their concern: “You, only one?” which is the starting point of sharing company and food.

I started to draw these happy encounters, but I have to admit that by now there are far too many of them to draw.

The first time I was unexpectedly accompanied for a great part of the day, was while I ventured out by bicycle to mount the temples on Yankin Hill. Aung Thu, who owns a food stall nearby, generously offered me to show me around, which he patiently did for the next 3 (!) hours while his sister and parents ran his shop. So nice, thank you!
