Staying on an organic farm instead of tubing – Vang Vieng, Laos

vang vieng organic farmVang Vieng is a riverside town famous for its tubing. Daily, hundreds of backpackers float down the river here on an inner tractor tube. Stopping at one of the many pubs along side the river they poor in some more beer and shots, arriving totally pissed back in town. Not quite my scene.

So, I decided to stay 4 km up north of Vang Vieng, at an organic mulberry farm that runs a guesthouse too. What a lovely spot! Right on the riverside, surrounded by karstic mountains. Great food prepared with fresh garden vegetables. If you like, you can help out at the farm as well. I did so one morning. Cleaning the goat pens, attempting to milk a goat (it seems SO easy… but it’s incredibly hard!!)

Beautiful photos of the cows with the mountains in the background. I’m very impressed that you even tried to milk a goat…remember, practice makes perfect (and also makes cheese:>)
