Village life in Myanmar

village life in myanmar

Probably the best way to explore rural life in Myanmar is trekking. In Hsipaw, Northeast of Mandalay, I went on a wonderful 3 days – 2 nights trekking. Dense forests, wide mountain views, green tea plantations and little Shan and Palaung villages on the way.

Meals and sleepovers we had with local farmer families in the villages. Homestays are unforgettable experiences in itself. Freezing cold ‘showers’ outside, cooking on wood fire, sleeping on a straw mat, dark skies full of stars at night and waking up by the sound of the rooster.

  1. Oh, wat ziet dat er prachtig uit (en hoef m’n ogen maar dicht te doen om ook de geuren – houtvuur! -die erbij horen op te roepen en dan die haan ook, wat een paradijs!!!)
