Badmash Peepal Farm is a small conscious living community near Dharamsala that strives to bring an end to animal suffering. Located in the beautiful countryside on the foothills of the Himalaya, Joellen Anderson (US) and Robin & Shirvani Singh (India) take in stray dogs, cows and even a donkey to treat them and help them recover. When recovered, they look for a adoption family.
Volunteering at Badmash Peepal means taking daily work shifts to take care of the animals and work in the garden, in order to get the community self sustainable. The philosophy here is ‘consume to survive, and survive to serve.’ It means a basic lifestyle, considering others before yourself, not harming any living beings, watching your speech, eating vegan, no alcohol and a healthy schedule of getting up early and quiet nights.
Of course I couldn’t go here without painting this awesome place some signs and artwork 🙂 I’ve learned a lot through talking with Joellen, Robin and Shivani, who are very passionate and loving animal activists 🙂 Kindness is their religion. How inspiring!

Working on a painting on the entrance gate: a modern Krishna (Hindu God) who tends a cow. Krishna is recognizable by the peacock feather and a flute.

Joellen and Robin, founders of Badmash Peepal farm, in front of the newly painted door. The tree is a Peepal leave tree.

Fio, who stole my heart. She’s up for adoption so if anyone can afford it please contact me or Badmash Peepal! International adoptions cost over a 1000 dollars so unfortunately I can’t bring her home.. 🙁
Wish to help them out? Visit the Badmash Peepal facebook page and leave the a message!

Bijzonder verhaal weer, mensen doen mooi werk. Prachtig die foto met de Himalaya op de achtergrond. En in de eerste foto zie ik ineens Anneke, grappig toch!
